Never even edited, since I don't have much time left for non-work related stuff..

I am usually very much not into this sort of things, but it's a weird period and I need a break from the usual routine.
A couple of days ago, I signed up for a little "Pay it Forward" fun at Anna's blog. So now it's my turn.

so.
my weekend was actually pretty busy:
on friday night there was a lovely dinner with friends I hadn't seen for a while. On saturday I was here. LOVED flogging Molly & Gogol Bordello, I can't report about the Pogues, since I ended up in the emergency room after falling (not very gracefully, I must admit) on one of my ankles.
It started hurting like hell and when I tried to get up after a while I found out (surprise!) that it actually hurt more and couldn't walk nor jump on the other foot.

Husband proved himself an hell of a hero by actually carrying me all the way out (at that point I decided it was a great idea to faint) and then to the emergency room when I had x-ray test and found out that foot was not broken, I just had a dislocated ankle and a twisted ligament.

For the next 10 to 15 days I'll be hopping around in crutches, which I'm totally terrible at.
And then I'm ready for the NIN concert. Let's see if next time I manage to actually break something...

(At the moment I'm stuck at home with two cuban women cleaning the house. And I'm scared of cleaning ladies. Scared to bits)

Sorry for flooding, but I don't know how often I'll be on the internet in the next few days.

Not giving much of an explanation for this image. Is part of a bigger work that should be finished by the end of semptember. I'm only writing it down to kick my own ass. I need to find the time to work on this FOR REAL.

I buried him. Drowned him. Painted him.
Is this enough? Of course not. If you accept to be my ghost assistant, this is what you get. Lucky, huh?
This picture is quite a ripoff of mr McKean's work, I reckon. I was unaware of that until the very moment I saw the finished shot and I though "oh well. Not THAT's quite unoriginal, isn't it?". But I still like it though, so consider it some kind of excercise in flattery

he seems a bit like someone who's thinking "one day I'll have a sledgehammer in my hands and you'll be too busy to notice".
but I grant you he was being way too cheerful for the photos and I had to repeatedly beat him with a stick to make him stop giggling like a schoolgirl.

and I didn't even cut him while unwrapping him. Ain't I very very nice?
(If anyone from endi's family is reading this: we love him. We are good people. Really!)

Well, you can bet your best knickers I am!
Meet pacina, who is the marshmellow of human kind. Sweet, delicious and colorful.
We got the shot in less than 10 frames.
So we had to fill the rest of the afternoon, somehow.

I've been told that in these pictures she might look like my sister, or someone related to me.
how cool would that be? (we also have the same size of shoes, which would mean double the shoes. Brothers are useless, when it comes to clothing and shoes)

it's been a while.
I will spare you the sad story of everything that has happened since last time I wrote here and will just start updating random sh..tuff from the latest weeks, ignoring completely everything that has been shot prior to that.
I'll never get to do it anyway.

We've been roadtripping California for 2 weeks for our first anniversary.
Not many pictures were shot, a little less than 2000 in 17 days. But it's way too mucho for a single post... unless you put them all into a 3 minutes video, of course!

I needed to test the camera in low light conditions.
Hell yeah.
I was working in low light/no light conditions and nothing you see is edited (as I don't know how to do it. I just started using imovie and even that seems incredibly complicated)

I was chosen to take the pictures and even though it was a tour-de-force, it's been heaps of fun

blah stuff from the darkroom.
I do need a decent scanner. Those HP all-in-one printer-scanner-coffeemachines are all shades of crappy.

plus, last time he came here, endi kindly agree to sit for an hour in my (freezing cold) studio, without speaking, without looking at me directly, while I was taking pictures of him without giving any direction.
I always do the worst things to the poor guy.
I got the idea from a Roswell Angier's book, it's been such a weird experience.
it's like time becomes tangible. An hour lasts forever.
Plus, I usually talk a lot with my subjects and direct them.

There are so many picture I took and didn't post in the last months. I might as well do one of those "photodump" posts, I guess, on of these days

I used not to photograph men.
I didn't really know what to do with them. I liked pretty girls posing pretty.

Then I realized my male friends are fucking rockstars.
And maranza is the roskstarrest of them all.

Yes, he did come to my house with a bag full of teddybears.
Because he is the messiah of cuddly love.

...but he's also quite intense (when he waits for me to take the damn picture)

After the shooting they slept together, that's all I'll say. Because Maranza always delivers.

And I finally got to properly test the lensbaby after weeks of it sitting on my desk
I still have 100+ pictures of him to edit but I decided to refuse to work for a night and read Annie Leibovitz's At Work

I almost always fall a little for the people I take pictures of.
It must have something to do with the fact that when you take someone's pictures you need to look at them with the eye of a lover. Or maybe it's because through the process of working on a portrait you build a relationship and you end up knowing more things about them than you would have imagined.
Or maybe it's because the people I take pictures of are drop dead gorgeous.
